Bamboo: Explained

Updated: Jun 22, 2018

It is estimated that 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are sold worldwide each year. Each plastic toothbrush takes 700 years to breakdown. Multiply 4.7 Billion by 700. That would take 3290000000000 years, that's three trillion two hundred ninety billion years to breakdown just 1 year’s global supply of toothbrushes.

Imagine the effect of micro-plastic pollution we are facing in our oceans and our rivers, micro-plastics seeping into our groundwater and our food chains right now as we speak.

If those horrific numbers alone did not motivate you to change to a TU BRUSH, here are 4 other reasons why you should embrace the change now.

#1 EVERY TOOTHBRUSH YOU HAVE EVER OWNED IS STILL IN EXISTENCE SOMEWHERE

Well, let’s start with the fact that every toothbrush you have ever owned still exists somewhere in the world. In fact, every plastic toothbrush ever made since the invention of plastic still exists. Plastic toothbrushes are among the seemingly minor items in our homes that become a much bigger problem on a collective scale.

#2 TU BRUSH BALANCES THE PH IN YOUR MOUTH WHILE FIGHTING THE GERMS THAT CAUSE BAD BREATH

Bamboo toothbrushes have amazing health benefits. They are naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal. It kills 70% of bacteria trying to form on it. The charcoal infused bristles are made of Binchotan charcoal which is naturally effective at fighting plaque and can help whiten teeth by absorbing tannins. These are compounds found in coffee, tea and wine which stains our teeth. It also balances the PH in your mouth while fighting the bacteria that causes bad breath.

#3 TU BRUSH REQUIRES NO CHEMICALS OR PESTICIDES IN ITS RAW MATERIAL

Bamboo is an amazing gift of nature. It is durable and sustainable yet strong and light. Bamboo is self-sustaining, it requires no chemicals or pesticides to grow and uses its own fallen leaves to nourish itself. TU BRUSH uses only sustainably harvested bamboo.

#4 BAMBOO IS THE ONLY PLANT THAT CAN KEEP UP WITH HUMAN CONSUMPTION

Bamboo trees are able to absorb carbon dioxide and release over 30% more oxygen into the atmosphere compared to any other trees. Its fast growth rate makes it the only plant that can keep up with human consumption. It is the ideal plant to grow as it prevents deforestation. The root system of a bamboo tree holds the surrounding soil by stabilising it and prevents ground erosion during rainfall.
